NCAA Football Week 7 Betting Picks

Georgia had a near-miss in NCAA Week 5, and it dropped them out of the No. 1 ranking. In NCAA Week 6, the near-miss belonged to Alabama, and they, too, dropped out of the No. 1 ranking, putting Georgia back in the top spot.

Great team performances abound, as do great individual efforts. Pittsburgh’s Israel Abanikanda ran for 320 yards and six touchdowns, tying the ACC single-game record.

Also accounting for six touchdowns was Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, who moved the Buckeyes into the No. 2 ranking with a big 49-20 win over Michigan State.

No. 3 Alabama at No. 6 Tennessee (+7.5)

We begin our slate of games with the displaced Alabama Crimson Tide going to Knoxville to take on the high-scoring offense of the Tennessee Volunteers. The Vols are scoring more than 46 points per game on the back of quarterback Hendon Hooker, and he and this offense will keep scoring against Alabama.

Nick Saban is hopeful that Bryce Young can play, but just how effective will he be? Alabama is likely to win this NCAA game, but Tennessee has the offense to keep it close and to cover the spread.

No. 10 Penn State (+7) at No. 5 Michigan

Two years ago, Penn State got the win at Michigan Stadium, but two years ago, Jim Harbaugh’s crew wasn’t at the top of the Big Ten. They are now, with the defending conference champs 3-0 in the Big Ten, even if they did just fail to cover the spread at Indiana.

Penn State hasn’t covered for two straight, looking uninspired in wins against Central Michigan and Northwestern. But this is Michigan, and they will get up for this one, the first of a tough gauntlet that has them playing Michigan, Minnesota, and Ohio State.

Penn State is up for it, and they will cover, even as the Wolverines hold on to win the game.

No. 8 Oklahoma State (+3.5) at No. 13 TCU

TCU nearly came up short last week at Kansas, needing late-game heroics to get past the Jayhawks and their backup quarterback. But they won, and they pushed against the spread – their first non-win against the spread this NCAA season.

Oklahoma State is easily the toughest test of the NCAA season for the Frogs, but they come into this game as underdogs, and that’s why we like them. They were dogs against Baylor, and the Cowboys won outright. And while we’re going to stop short of predicting a win on the moneyline for Oklahoma State, we do like them and the points.

NCAA Week 7 Best College Football Bets

Following one of the wildest weeks in college football in recent memory, we have even more great matchups in Week 7. Here are the betting predictions to go with them.

No. 11 Kentucky at No. 1 Georgia (-22.5)

Georgia plays its first game as the top-ranked team in the country since the 1983 Sugar Bowl and the days of Herschel Walker. Kentucky is 6-0 for the first time since a young Bear Bryant was their head coach in 1950.

It’s rarified air for this weekend’s matchup in Athens, Georgia, and on the surface, a more than three-touchdown point spread seems like a lot. Well, it is a lot, but Georgia is a lot as a football team. Not only do they lead the nation in points and yards allowed, they are scoring almost 40 points per game, which is 12th in the country.

Georgia has covered the spread in five of six games and by comfortable margins. Last week they covered by 10. The week before that, they covered by 21. Back on the final Saturday in September, the spread was 36, and they won by 62.

Nothing quite as impressive will happen this week against the Wildcats, but the Bulldogs are a good bet to do it again. Lay the points.

No. 12 Oklahoma State (+5.5) at No. 25 Texas

For 30 minutes last week, it looked like Texas football was all the way back. They were dominating the rival Oklahoma Sooners in every way imaginable. Then the final 30 minutes happened, and Texas was hit by the reality that they aren’t quite back, and their final game against Oklahoma inside the Big 12 was lost.

Texas’s offense is very good and probably the best the Cowboys have seen. But OSU has a great defense, is 5-0, and has covered the spread in three straight weeks. Oklahoma State may fall short in its bid to upset Texas, but they keep this game close enough to cover.

No. 18 Arizona State (-1) at Utah

In late Saturday action, it’s Arizona State, in first place in the Pac-12 South, taking on Utah. ASU is 5-1, with the lone blemish on their record coming the last time they traveled to the state of Utah, a September 18th loss at BYU.

Since then, the Sun Devils have covered three straight games and have won easily over Colorado, UCLA, and Stanford. The 3-2 Utes give them a good game, but in the end, ASU will win by more than a point.

Top Five NCAA Football Teams To Bet In Week 13

Michigan Wolverines (-8) at Indiana Hoosiers

It has the making of a trap game. Michigan just beat Michigan State and has Ohio State on the horizon. But even though this isn’t a rivalry game, the Wolverines will continue to dominate.

Their last three wins have been by 34, 31, and 31 points. Expect them to keep rolling in this one and win big over Indiana and improve to 7-4 against the spread.

UCLA Bruins (+13) at USC Trojans

UCLA was terrible to start the season, but it has now won three of four Pac-12 games, and Chip Kelly’s job appears to be safe. The Bruins were beaten up pretty badly by Utah, but I expect a bounce back in the battle of Los Angeles.

The Bruins beat USC outright last year, and getting 13 points for this season’s battle is too much to pass up. USC drops to 6-6 ATS after this week’s tight cross-town rivalry.

Oklahoma State Cowboys (-7.5) at West Virginia Mountaineers

West Virginia has been up and down all season when it comes to performing against the spread at 4-5-1. And at home, the Mountaineers have covered the spread just once.

On the other side, Oklahoma State continues to provide great value at 8-2 ATS, which includes a 4-1 mark on the road. For that reason alone, lay the points and take the Cowboys.

Penn State Nittany Lions at Ohio State Buckeyes (-18.5)

Ohio State’s offense is one of the surest bets in the country, having topped the 50-point mark five times so far this season. Penn State will be the highest-ranked team they’ve faced so far, but the Buckeyes haven’t had a margin of victory below 24 points yet this season.

At 8-2 against the spread and cruising to a possible spot in the College Football Playoff, Ohio State keeps its foot on that gas and wins this game by at least three touchdowns.

Texas A&M Aggies (+13.5) at Georgia Bulldogs

Even though it has lost a game this season, Georgia is also eyeing the possibility of making it into the College Football Playoff. The Bulldogs have clinched the SEC East and have already punched their ticket for the conference title game but are banged up on offense. They may be in line for a bit of a letdown as they try and get healthy for postseason play.

Meanwhile, since losing to Alabama in October, the Aggies have been rolling, with four straight wins and a 30-6 thumping of South Carolina, the team that gave Georgia its lone loss. I don’t think Texas A&M has enough to win this game, but I do think it has an excellent chance to cover the spread. Take the points.
