Mistakes to Avoid When Becoming a Bookie

by WagerHome Blog on August 23, 2024

Now is the perfect time to take the next step in the sports betting industry by becoming your own bookie. The month of August is typically when sports slows down a bit, but you should be using this time to come up with a new plan.

Instead of just waiting around for the top football odds to come out this fall, you are going to want to start to see how you can offer the odds on your own. Becoming your own bookie is now easier than ever, but you also want to make sure that you are doing things right.

Here is a look at some of the most common mistakes that you want to avoid if you are planning to become your own bookie.

Limiting Number of Sports

If you are going to become your own bookie then you are going to need to become a specialist in a wide range of sports. College football and the NFL are clearly the most popular options when it comes to this time of year, but there are going to be other sports out there as well.

You don’t want to limit the sports that you are going to offer on your site, as that is going to limit the amount of money that can be made. This is also the best time of the year for the MLB season, and you want to make sure that you have those betting odds available as well. MLB

Not Updating Odds

One major key to success is going to be getting the odds posted early, but that’s not the only thing to consider when focusing on the odds. Things can change quickly in the wide world of sports, and you want to make sure that you are staying on top of the news updates.

Posting early lines is going to attract betting action to your site, but you also need to be sure that you are updating odds when it’s time to get that done. Don’t just sit back and never update odds as that will limit the amount of money you can make.

Turning Away Business

Getting all of your friends on board is going to be a good strategy to employ when you are starting up your own PPH site, but that’s going to limit the amount of money that you can make. You will also need to reach out to other prospective bettors, and there will be plenty of them out there.

The only way to have some success in this industry is to accept wagers from anyone that is willing to get in on the action. Be ready to accept wagers from anyone out there, and always look to expand.

Not Choosing WagerHome

The biggest mistake that you can make in this journey is not choosing WagerHome.com to get your PPH site up and running. This website specializes in helping potential bookies get into the business, and they are looking to help you out as well.

Getting your PPH site up and running is going to be the first step towards having some success, and you want to make sure that it’s at the top of the game. This is where you will want to get as much help as possible, and WagerHome can take away plenty of stress.

Top Five Conference Football Futures to Offer

by WagerHome Blog on August 9, 2024

The 2024-25 college football season is coming soon, and this is going to be an exciting season for teams throughout the country. An expanded College Football Playoff will bring additional excitement, and it should keep more teams in the running.

Instead of just waiting around to make some football bets this year, you should be looking to offer bets on the upcoming season. With so many great betting markets out there, you can also find some great opportunities to make some money.

Be sure to reach out to WagerHome.com to get your PayPerHead site set up and running properly. This is a website that has been helping others get this site set up, and this is where all of your bets will be offered.

Once you get your PPH site established, here are the top college football future bets that you should be offering.

Conference Champion Odds

The goal for everyone in the country is to win their respective conference championship, and this is also one of the top bets to make. Betting odds are set for every team in the country when it comes to becoming a conference champion.

If you are going to become your own bookie then you will want to explore these betting odds as well. Since so many are going to be looking to make these wagers, you will be able to cash in by gaining some business from the bettors looking to bet on conference champions.

Odds to Reach CFP

The College Football Playoff will now have 12 teams this season as it will expand past the traditional four teams. Each team will be trying to reach the CFP, and there are betting odds set for the teams to make that happen.

If you are going to offer odds to win the conference championship then you want to offer odds to reach the College Football Playoffs. Since there will be 12 teams that make it, you do want to keep in mind that some teams appear to be some locks. The 2024-25 college football season is coming soon, and this is going to be an exciting season for teams throughout the country. An expanded College Football Playoff will bring additional excitement, and it should keep more teams in the running.

CFP Title Odds

Not only can you offer betting odds for teams to reach the College Football Playoffs, but offering title odds will be another great option. These are odds that you are going to want to update throughout the year as things can change quickly in this sport.

There will be some teams that are clearly favored to win the CFP title when the year begins, but that list of teams can always change throughout the year.

Odds to Win Heisman

The Heisman Trophy is one of the most prestigious awards in all of sports, and it’s something that you should always keep in mind when running a PPH site. Since this award is so popular, there will be many that are looking to bet on the player that will win the Heisman.

This award tends to be won by a quarterback most years, and you should keep that in mind when setting the betting odds. Update the odds as the year moves along as there will always be bets coming in.

Over/Under Win Total

Every team in the country is going to have an over/under set, and that total reflects the number of wins for each team. The best teams in the country are going to have an over/under around 10.5 total wins, but that number will be much smaller for the struggling teams.

If you are going to be a popular bookie when it comes to this sport then you will want to have these betting options available. You will be able to set the over/under at whatever you want, but you want to make sure that you are attracting some betting action.

Be Ready For Big Events Coming this Fall

by WagerHome Blog on July 17, 2024

The summer months tend to be a bit slow when it comes to the sports calendar, and that’s especially true if baseball isn’t your thing at all. While that might be true, things are going to pick back up as soon as the calendar flips to August.

Since betting on sports has become a major part of the equation, you should be looking to cash in as soon as the calendar does make a turn later on in the year. Instead of just waiting around to make bets on the top sports, you should be looking to see how you can offer those bets yourself.

Becoming your own bookie is now easier than ever, and now is the perfect time to start getting things in order to make that happen.

NFL Football

The National Football League is easily the most popular sport in the United States, and that’s even more true when it comes to sports betting. This league has now added an extra game to the regular season, providing even more betting options throughout the year.

When it comes to the NFL, it’s not going to be hard to find those that want to wager on the sport that is so popular. There will be people flocking to your site and looking to make bets, and you want to make sure that you are ready to accept those bets.

NFL

College Football

College football isn’t quite as popular as the NFL, but it’s not too far behind at all, especially when it comes to betting. The college football betting options are nearly the exact same, and there are even those out there that would prefer to bet on these games.

Big changes are coming to college football as well, and that will create even more excitement during the regular season slate of games. College football tends to dominate every Saturday, especially when it comes to betting.

MLB Playoff Races

Baseball is not a sport that many choose to bet on, as the regular season seems to drag on forever. There are definitely some rough moments during the summer months, but everything seems to flip a switch when it’s time for the playoff push.

MLb action tends to provide some great options throughout the week, while football then dominates the action during the summer. Be sure to be open and willing to accept bets on regular season baseball games.

Get Your Site Ready

It’s easier than ever to become your own bookie, especially if you reach out to WagerHome.com to get some assistance. This site will give you all of the tips and tools needed to get your PayPerHead site off the ground, and it can also help you attract customers to your site.

Use this little break in the busy sports calendar to get everything in order to be ready to cash in this fall. Be prepared to offer betting on the biggest football games, but don’t forget about all of the big MLB games coming later this fall as well.

A Bettor’s Guide to the College Football Playoff

by WagerHome Blog on December 5, 2023

With the College Football Playoff going to 12 teams next year, we’ll never see another unbeaten conference champion like Florida State get passed over for a one-loss Alabama. But if anyone thinks there won’t be controversy involving the 11th, 12th, and 13th best teams in the country, I have a bridge to sell you.

There will always be controversy in a sport that uses polls. But we are getting closer to making sure the best team in college football is always given an opportunity to compete for the National Championship, and this year we have succeeded.

Odds to Win College Football Playoff and National Championship

  • Michigan (+185)
  • Alabama (+200)
  • Texas (+260)
  • Washington (+750)

This year the committee had no room for second place finishers. Georgia, after an entire season of sitting at No. 1, is out after losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship. The Tide rolled through the last half of the regular season and they enter the playoffs as the fourth seed by the committee, but as the second betting favorites in Las Vegas.

Texas beat Alabama early in the year, and then they put a loss to Oklahoma in the rearview mirror by cruising to an easy Big 12 title. The Longhorns closed out the season with a 50-point win over Texas Tech to get into the Big 12 Championship Game, then they beat Oklahoma State by 28 to claim their fourth conference championship.

Washington finished the season undefeated and beat Oregon twice on its way to winning its final Pac-12 title. Next year, along with Oregon, USC, and UCLA, the Huskies move to the Big Ten. Before the Huskies begin their quest to win the school’s first National Championship since 1991, quarterback Michel Penix Jr. hopes to win Washington’s first ever Heisman Trophy this weekend in New York.

For Michigan, three straight wins over Ohio State and three straight Big Ten titles are no longer enough. To complete the resume of this era of Wolverine football they must finish the season as National Champions. They are the betting favorite, and they are the most experienced. They are the only team returning from last year’s group of four.

Semifinal Matchups

  • No. 4 Alabama vs. No. 1 Michigan (-1.5)
  • No. 3 Texas (-4.5) vs. No. 2 Washington

Beginning our New Year’s Day of top college football will be Alabama and Michigan in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The Wolverines are favored in that one by just 1.5 points.

Following the conclusion of the Rose Bowl, Texas and Washington will kick off in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Texas is 4.5-point favorites.

Pay Per Head Software

These four teams will play just three of the 41 college football bowls that are on tap this month. Plus we have the end of the NFL regular season, NBA, college basketball, and the NHL. So many sports, so little time, unless as an independent bookmaker you also have a pay per head software partner like WagerHome.com.

A Big Final Weekend of College Football

by WagerHome Blog on November 21, 2023

It’s Thanksgiving, it’s the final weekend of the college football regular season, and there are still several spots in conference championship games up for grabs.

Eat your leftover turkey sandwiches, turn on the TV, and place your wagers – just as the Pilgrims envisioned.

Texas Tech at No. 7 Texas (-13)

The Big 12 is a bit of jumbled mess behind Texas. If the Longhorns beat Texas Tech on Friday, they are in the Big 12 Championship Game in Arlington, Texas. Oklahoma State is also in if they beat BYU on Saturday.

But if either of these teams lose, Oklahoma could get in, Kansas State could get in, or Texas and Oklahoma State could still get in with losses. We could have as many as four teams tied for two spots, making for a great weekend of college football chaos.

No. 15 Oregon State at No. 6 Oregon (-13.5)

Washington is already in the Pac-12 Championship Game, and Oregon has the best chance at joining them. Win the “Civil War” over rival Oregon State, and the Ducks are going to Las Vegas.

But the Beavers are no pushover. They almost beat the Huskies last week, and they did beat the Ducks last year. And if they are to win this Friday, then Arizona gets a chance to advance to the Pac-12 Championship Game over Arizona State on Saturday.

No. 2 Ohio State at No. 3 Michigan (-3.5)

Nevermind the nonsense going on with Jim Harbaugh. This game, called The Game, is bigger than any one head coach. Unless that coach is Woody Hayes, who famously risked running out of gas, rather than filling his tank in “that state up north.”

His attitude sums up the entire feeling of this rivalry. The fans, the school, the alumni, the states, nothing but hatred for the other.

Both teams are in the top-five, both teams have designs on making it to the College Football Playoff, and both want to win this game more than any other on their schedule. The winner in Ann Arbor will face Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game.

No. 8 Alabama at Auburn

Alabama is already headed to the SEC Championship Game to play Georgia, but winning the Iron Bowl before they do that could set them for a shot at the College Football Playoff. If they beat Auburn and Georgia, it will be hard to deny the Crimson Tide. But a loss at Auburn, which would be a second loss this season, would likely sink any chance at a national championship.

Pay Per Head Software

So much great college football, then we have the championship games next weekend. Plus the NFL regular season marches on, the NBA and NHL, college basketball – it never ends.

If you are an independent bookmaker trying to stay on top of it all, now is the time to join forces with a top pay per head software provider. With WagerHome.com you get a fully customizable website, access to WagerHome’s huge menu of sports and betting options, plus EZ Live betting. See a demo today at WagerHome.com!

College Football Betting Preview

by WagerHome Blog on August 31, 2023

College Football Betting Preview

Labor Day weekend is just around the corner, which means everyone gets a day off to have a last-summer barbecue. Far more important, however, is that with the calendar ticking over to September, we get a full slate of college football games.

Every team in the AP Top 25 is in action this week, and one of the games features a pair of top-10 teams squaring off on Sunday.

Boise State at No. 10 Washington (-14)

The Pac-12 is still a conference for one more year, and one of the best in the conference is Washington, with quarterback Michael Penix Jr. This team is one of the best in the country and is getting College Playoff talk, largely because of Penix.

Boise State, however, is no slouch. They won eight of their last 10 games a year ago, including a win in the Frisco Bowl. They return quarterback Taylen Green, who led an offense that topped 30 points eight times in 2022.

It’s only Week 1, but Washington wants to justify its preseason hype with a big win. The two touchdown point spread is a little challenging against a team like Boise, but the under on 58.5 is not. Both offenses are good, but Boise has gone under in 10 of its last 11 games on the road.

No. 5 LSU (-2.5) at No. 8 Florida State

The game of the weekend takes place in Orlando. A year ago these teams played, and neither was ranked. Now 12 months later they are both in the top-10 and expecting to compete for a national championship.

Both teams ended last season with 10 wins, and both teams got bowl victories. Florida State beat Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl, while LSU manhandled Purdue in the Citrus Bowl.

This game has everything you want, including two very good quarterbacks returning from last season, and a neutral site to give the game a postseason feel. In the end LSU’s defense is the best of the four units on the field, and that should be enough to get the Tigers the win and the cover.

No. 9 Clemson (-13) at Duke

College Football Betting Preview

Because it’s the first weekend, and because the NFL hasn’t kicked off yet, along with our Sunday game in Florida, we’re getting a Monday game in Durham, North Carolina.

It’s an ACC battle featuring the defending conference champs, Clemson, taking on the surprise of 2022, the 9-4 Duke Blue Devils.

Is a victory over Clemson possible? Sure, if these Tigers are as uneven as they were a year ago. For our purposes, the numbers that matter are 5-1. That is how well Duke did against the spread as the underdog. Roll with the home team to cover.

Pay Per Head Software

College football is here, then the NFL follows, then it’s October baseball, then the NBA and college basketball. So much to keep track of as an independent bookmaker, you have to team up with a pay per head software provider to stay on top of it all.

Post-Spring Football Odds Have Georgia Set to Repeat as National Champion

by WagerHome Blog on May 4, 2023

All of the college football teams in the country have completed their spring practice, and most players who entered the transfer portal have found new homes. And in the wake of that, we have a new top-25 preseason poll, and the odds on the national championship winner have been updated.

To no one’s surprise, the Georgia Bulldogs lead the way in both.

Georgia Bulldogs (+225)

Georgia has firmly supplanted Alabama as the premiere program in the country. Even though they continue to lose players to the NFL, this year’s Georgia Bulldogs team will have as many as 16 players returning who started at least one game in 2022.

Georgia

Stetson Bennett and his two Georgia national championships are gone, but new Georgia quarterback Carson Beck might even be better.

Alabama (+500)

Alabama is all the way down in fifth place in the top-25, but they draw considerably shortened odds in the national championship picture because of history and reputation. The line of succession, from Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones, and Bryce Young, is now suddenly not so certain. That question mark at QB may hold them back.

Ohio State (+600)

Ohio State is another team replacing a top quarterback who is off to the NFL, and many of the best players on their offensive line have also left Columbus for the pros. Kyle McCord is in his third year with the Buckeyes, and he is your likely starter at quarterback. But Devin Brown still has a chance to win the job by September.

Michigan (+1000)

Michigan is ranked No. 3 in the early polls, but is only fourth in the national championship picture. That is largely because despite playing in the College Football Playoff for two straight years, and beating Ohio State for two straight years, they continue to get worked in the national semifinals.

USC (+1400)

Caleb Williams is all you need to know about USC and why they are paying the fifth shortest odds to win the national championship. The quarterback is the favorite to repeat as the Heisman Trophy winner, and he will have the Trojans in the mix to make their first appearance in the College Football Playoff.

USC is only ranked 12th in the preseason polls right now because their defense was atrocious last year, and it appears to still be bad in 2023. But Williams is a marquee player and marquee name, and he is driving their odds down.

The last time USC was in the top-5 in the final AP poll was 2011.

Pay Per Head Software

The football season is still four months away, but right now, we have the NBA and NHL Playoffs going at full tilt, baseball is approaching the quarter pole, and this weekend we have the 149th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Even the best independent bookmakers can’t stay on top of it all, unless they are partnered with a top pay per head software provider like WagerHome.com.

WagerHome BlogPost-Spring Football Odds Have Georgia Set to Repeat as National Champion

NCAA Football National Title Game Betting Preview

by WagerHome Blog on January 6, 2023

Nearly five months after the college football season began, there’s just one game left to play, the National Championship game. The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs are on a mission to repeat after their late rally against Ohio State in the semifinals. The No. 3 TCU Horned Frogs stand in their way after upsetting Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl.

Monday’s National football Championship Game will be played at a neutral site in Los Angeles, at SoFi Stadium. With a spread of 13.5 points in favor of Georgia, this game has one of the largest spreads in recent title games.

TCU on Upset Run

The Horned Frogs began the season unranked and with better than 1500-1 odds to win the football title. A win on Monday would go down as one of the biggest upsets in college football history and rival the largest preseason underdogs to win a title in any sport.

To keep their run going, TCU has to find a way to force turnovers like they did against Michigan. A blocked kick, fumble recovery or pick-six can flip the momentum early and put Georgia on their heels.

Michigan’s football defense doesn’t allow many yards on the ground, but Ohio State showed TCU how to attack the Bulldogs through the air. TCU running back Kendre Miller was injured against Michigan though they are hopeful he will be 100%.

Duggan gets rid of the football quickly, and he will need to as the Bulldogs racked up four sacks against Ohio State, even without pass-rusher Nolan Smith. Duggan ranks 28th in the nation in completed passes down the field, but the Heisman runner-up was picked off twice against Michigan, something he must avoid on Monday.

TCU’s football defense isn’t great, and they gave up more than 550 yards to Michigan. The Horned Frogs play a 3-3-5 defense, and Georgia completed nearly 70% of their passes this season against five DB’s.

Bulldogs on a Repeat Mission

Stetson Bennett sure does save his best for the big games. Last year he threw for 537 yards and five touchdowns in the two playoff games, with no interceptions. In Saturday’s semifinal, he led the comeback over Ohio State with 398 yards and three passing touchdowns, including the game-winning score with 54 seconds left.

The Georgia running backs and offensive line can go to work against the Horned Frogs defense. Kenny McIntosh and Daijun Edwards combined for 128 yards against Ohio State on 13 carries, and Mcintosh added four catches for 58 yards and a touchdown. Georgia didn’t stick to the run as they trailed the Buckeyes, but if they can get the ground game going early, they can control the clock and the game.

Georgia’s defense has been uncharacteristic in their last two games, with 30 points allowed against LSU and 41 against Ohio State. On the season, they have allowed just 12.8 ppg and 77 rushing ypg. Even without Smith, they have enough talent to get things back on track on defense and suffocate the Horned Frogs offense.

Game Scripts Dictate Props

You can offer plenty of fun props on the national title game. If Georgia controls the clock and the running game, their passing totals will be low, and that also means TCU will be impatient on offense and throw more. However, if Georgia falls behind like they did against OSU and they run the ball less than 20 times, their passing game props will skyrocket.

Miller is the closest thing to an automatic touchdown for either team, as he found the endzone 17 times on the season. McIntosh has 12 touchdowns, but no one else on either team has gone for more than six touchdowns this season. Touchdown props can be another fun market to create props and bets for a game like this.

UGA Repeats in Big Way

All the numbers here point towards Georgia winning and being in control for the entire game. A 20-point win wouldn’t be a surprise at all, as the Bulldogs have been here before, won big games over ranked teams, and they have the superior talent at nearly every position.
