Mistakes to Avoid When Becoming a Bookie

by WagerHome Blog on August 23, 2024

Now is the perfect time to take the next step in the sports betting industry by becoming your own bookie. The month of August is typically when sports slows down a bit, but you should be using this time to come up with a new plan.

Instead of just waiting around for the top football odds to come out this fall, you are going to want to start to see how you can offer the odds on your own. Becoming your own bookie is now easier than ever, but you also want to make sure that you are doing things right.

Here is a look at some of the most common mistakes that you want to avoid if you are planning to become your own bookie.

Limiting Number of Sports

If you are going to become your own bookie then you are going to need to become a specialist in a wide range of sports. College football and the NFL are clearly the most popular options when it comes to this time of year, but there are going to be other sports out there as well.

You don’t want to limit the sports that you are going to offer on your site, as that is going to limit the amount of money that can be made. This is also the best time of the year for the MLB season, and you want to make sure that you have those betting odds available as well. MLB

Not Updating Odds

One major key to success is going to be getting the odds posted early, but that’s not the only thing to consider when focusing on the odds. Things can change quickly in the wide world of sports, and you want to make sure that you are staying on top of the news updates.

Posting early lines is going to attract betting action to your site, but you also need to be sure that you are updating odds when it’s time to get that done. Don’t just sit back and never update odds as that will limit the amount of money you can make.

Turning Away Business

Getting all of your friends on board is going to be a good strategy to employ when you are starting up your own PPH site, but that’s going to limit the amount of money that you can make. You will also need to reach out to other prospective bettors, and there will be plenty of them out there.

The only way to have some success in this industry is to accept wagers from anyone that is willing to get in on the action. Be ready to accept wagers from anyone out there, and always look to expand.

Not Choosing WagerHome

The biggest mistake that you can make in this journey is not choosing WagerHome.com to get your PPH site up and running. This website specializes in helping potential bookies get into the business, and they are looking to help you out as well.

Getting your PPH site up and running is going to be the first step towards having some success, and you want to make sure that it’s at the top of the game. This is where you will want to get as much help as possible, and WagerHome can take away plenty of stress.

Best MLB Bets to Offer At this Time

by WagerHome Blog on August 14, 2024

The 2024 MLB season is coming down the stretch, and this is easily the best time of the year for this sport. Not only will there be some great action taking place on the diamond, but there will also be some great betting options to explore.

Instead of just searching for the top betting options, now is the perfect time to become your own bookie and start accepting wagers. Reaching out to WagerHome is going to be the first step to being your own bookie, and you will be surprised with just how easy this process can be.

WagerHome will give you all of the tools needed to set up your own Pay Per Head site, and that is important when starting out on this journey. There will be plenty of action coming to your PPH site, and you will have some great betting options to offer. Let’s look at the best MLB bets for the season.

World Series Winner

Futures betting is extremely popular for any sport, but that’s especially true when it comes to MLB action. There are a number of great ways to offer future bets on this sport, but offering World Series future betting odds really stands out.

Since it’s going to start becoming clear as to which teams are going to be in the hunt, that should keep more people in the mix. Offer some World Series future betting odds, and you will definitely get some action. Best MLB Bets of the season

AL/NL MVP Bets

Another great futures betting option to check out are the odds to win the AL/NL MVP Awards. There are other end of season awards given out in this sport, but these are the two biggest awards that people try to predict.

You should have been able to offer these bets throughout the year, but now is the time when things will really come into focus. Be sure to have these odds available to your bettors and you will get some action.

Odds to Win Division Titles

There are some division title races that are going to be pretty well settled, but there are others that will come down to the final few games. Bettors will be looking to get in on the action as well, and you should be looking to cash in.

Be ready to offer odds to win division titles, and you should also be ready to make adjustments to those odds when the action is unfolding. Don’t delay in getting these bets made available, but be ready for significant action coming.

Betting on Each Game

The MLB season is a long grind, and there is simply no way that you can bet on every single game throughout the year. It can also be hard to predict what is going to happen during an MLB game, but things start to become more clear later on in the year.

There are some teams that will essentially give up towards the end of the year, while others will be in a position where they have to win. That will have a big impact on the betting lines, but this is still an unpredictable game.

Be sure to offer the top MLB options to try to cash in on the upcoming action that will finish out the year.

Four Best Baseball Bets to Offer

by WagerHome Blog on July 19, 2024

The 2024 MLB All Star Game just took place this week, and that is always one of the top sporting events that takes place every year. This also creates a pretty big hole in the sports calendar as MLB action completely shuts down for an entire week.

Now that the second half of the season is set to begin this weekend, you should be looking to cash in by accepting wagers on the top action. Baseball and betting haven’t always gone together, but there are some great betting options out there.

Getting to WagerHome.com right away can give you the opportunity to accept wagers on baseball games during the second half of the season. Becoming your own bookie is now easier than ever, especially if you take advantage of the help from WagerHome.

Setting up a PPH site is clearly the most important step, but there is still work to be done from that point as well. Here are four of the best baseball bets, and also the markets to offer with your own site.

Moneyline

Moneyline betting is not the top option with some sports, but that’s definitely the case when it comes to MLB. It can be hard to predict what is going to happen during a MLB game, and that’s why simply picking the winner is a great option to check out.

Moneyline odds are typically pretty valuable as well, especially if you are wanting to bet on the underdog in each matchup. If you are able to get your PPH site up and running then you should focus on setting the moneyline odds.

Run Line

Since betting the moneyline doesn’t always come with a ton of value, betting the run line is another option for MLB bettors. The run line focuses on which team will either win a game by two runs, or keep the final score within a run.

Bettors tend to prefer betting the run line because it gives some extra value when betting on the winning team. By setting up your own PPH site, you will be able to determine how much value comes with those odds. MLB

Over/Under

The over/under odds for MLB action involves betting on the total number of runs scored in game. There is some version of this bet available for every single sport that is out there, but it’s a bigger focus when it comes to MLB action.

Many MLB bettors will be looking to create a moneyline/total parlay, and you need to make sure that you have these betting options out there.

NRFI or YRFI

Two of the most popular MLB bets that are currently out there are “No Runs First Inning” (NRFI) and “Yes Runs First Inning (YRFI). Those are extremely unique betting options that only apply to the sport of baseball, and they are relatively new as well.

If you become your own bookie then you will want to make sure that you are offering these wagers to your valued customers. They can be simple bets to offer and make, and they can also allow you to cash in.

Offer All-Star Game Betting

by WagerHome Blog on July 13, 2024

The unofficial first half of the 2024 MLB season is set to end on Sunday, and that means that it’s time for the annual All-Star Break. While most teams are well over the 81 games at the halfway point, this is a good time for each team to reflect on what has taken place.

This also means that the All-Star Game is coming up next week, and there are other festivities that take place surrounding the game. Instead of just sitting back and watching the Midsummer Classic, now is the perfect time to start putting together some great betting options.

Becoming your own bookie is always a great idea, but this week will represent one of the best times of the year to get that done. Instead of just looking for ways to bet on the All Star Game, you can make some money by having the bets flowing in through you.

Since this is always one of the slowest weeks when it comes to live sports, you will have some time to get your PPH site set up. Instead of trying to start this process on your own, you should be looking at WagerHome.com to get things going.

Here is a look at the week ahead for Major League Baseball and what you need to do to become your own bookie. MLB 2022 Betting Odds: Favorites Underdogs, and Longshots

More Than ASG

The All-Star Game is clearly the biggest event that takes place during All-Star Game weekend, but there are other events to keep an eye on as well. Betting on the All-Star Game will come with some excellent opportunities, especially if you get into the prop betting side of things.

Instead of just looking at the game, you can also focus on the Home Run Derby as well. Every single league has some great exhibition events during the All-Star Game festivities, but the Home Run Derby is one that always stands out.

There will be a number of different ways to offer bets on the All-Star Game, and you want to get in on those right away. Since there aren’t going to be many other events taking place, it’s a perfect time to focus betting on the home run action.

Get Set With WagerHome

It can get frustrating trying to become your own bookie on your own, and that’s why you will want to reach out to WagerHome.com for some assistance. This might seem like an unnecessary step at first, but it’s actually one that is going to save you a ton of time in the long run.

While WagerHome isn’t going to do everything for you, it’s a site that will allow you to create a PayPerHead site with very little worry. It’s been helping people for years, and it has all of the tools needed to get everything in order to set that site up.

After you have your PPH site established then you are going to have to do some work to start making money. Since this will be a slow week in sports coming up, you can use that time to your advantage.

Baseball betting is extremely underrated, and it’s something that most completely forget about at times. One nice thing about MLB betting is that there are at least a dozen games taking place every single day.

Another great thing about MLB action is that live betting is king because the pace of play is slow enough that you are able to get some wagers in. Live betting has really become popular, but there is enough down time that it allows for those bets to be accepted.

Betting the run line is another great option when it comes to MLB games as that only requires the winning team to win by at least two runs. Prop betting is another great feature of betting on the MLB, and there is a chance to offer many props each game.

Instead of looking for these betting options, now is the perfect time for you to start accepting the wagers yourself. If you become your own bookie then you can decide what betting options you want to offer, and what those odds will look like.

Get Started Today

The best time of year when it comes to being your own bookie is during the football season, and that time is coming fast. You don’t want to wait until football season though as you will be missing out on some great opportunities to make some money.

Time to Look at MLB Futures

by WagerHome Blog on April 26, 2024

The 2024 MLB season actually began in the month of March this year, and that means that the first month is nearly over. There are some great betting options every single day of the MLB season, but now is actually the perfect time to make some futures picks as well.

This is also the perfect time to become your own bookie as there are still five months of MLB action set to take place. Becoming your own bookie can actually be more valuable than simply betting on random MLB games, because that can be hard to predict.

When you are your own bookie, futures wagers are actually something that you can feature, and it’s a great way to cash in. It’s not as simple as just starting to accept wagers, but there is a company out there that can help you get started.

Here is a look at some of the top MLB futures wagers to make, and how you can become your own bookie today.

Betting on Teams and Players

The MLB season is a marathon every single year, but there are some betting trends that emerge early on in the year. Now is actually the perfect time to bet on the teams that you believe that can win the World Series, and there are some early candidates.

In the National League, the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers both look like World Series favorites, and each team is absolutely loaded with talent. The American League looks to be a bit more wide open, but the New York Yankees have gotten off to a huge start.

There are going to be some great player future awards as well, including betting on the MVP and Cy Young Award. It still might be a bit too early to really get a good feel on those races, but there are some very talented players throughout the league.

This is the time when the odds are the most valuable, and getting some futures wagers in right now is a good idea. Instead of just making the wagers on your own, you can also look at taking those wagers through your own PPH site.

Win With WagerHome

If you plan on becoming your own bookie then you are first going to have to find a way to get a PPH site set up and running. That can present some challenges, but the best option will be to use WagerHome throughout the early part of the process.

You will have some choices when it comes to setting up your PPH site, but WagerHome can also take away some of the stress. You aren’t going to be left on your own after the site is set up either as you can always get some additional help when needed.

After you get your site set up then WagerHome will work with you to try and get the most traffic to your site every single day. There will be plenty of time to attract some baseball bettors, and you can have some great odds for them to explore.

MLB Postseason Betting Guide

by WagerHome Blog on October 3, 2023

The four best MLB teams in baseball’s regular season won’t play their first playoff game until Saturday, October 7.

That gives them six full days off, begging the question if a hot baseball team wants to keep playing or if resting players and setting your rotation is the better way to go.

We shall find out as baseball debuts its new postseason format of 12 teams and four MLB Wild Card series that are each best-of-three.

MLB Wild Card Matchups

Texas Rangers (+135) at Tampa Bay Rays (-160)

As the top seed in the American League, the Baltimore Orioles will get the winner of the Rangers at Rays series. Texas is in the playoffs for the first time since 2016, while the Rays are in the playoffs for the fifth straight year.

Toronto Blue Jays (-105) at Minnesota Twins (-115)

In the early 1990s, these were two of the best teams in baseball. The Minnesota Twins won the World Series in 1991, and the Toronto Blue Jays won in 1992 and 1993. Neither has been back since and of the 12 playoff teams, only the Brewers and Orioles have been absent from the fall classic for longer.

The winner will play the defending World Series champion Houston Astros.

Miami Marlins (+160) at Philadelphia Phillies (-190)

The winner of the Marlins-Phillies series will head to Atlanta to take on the top-seeded Braves. The Phillies are the defending National League champions, they are the higher seed, and they are the favorites to win this series. However, in 13 games this regular season, the Marlins came out on top 7-6.

Arizona Diamondbacks (+130) at Milwaukee Brewers (-155)

It’s been more than 40 years since the Milwaukee Brewers were American League champions and playing in the World Series. Now they are National League Central champions for the fourth time and hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks, a World Series winner 22 years ago.

The winner of this series will be at Dodger Stadium on Saturday.

MLB

MLB World Series Odds

  • Atlanta Braves (+310)
  • Houston Astros (+450)
  • Los Angeles Dodgers (+450)
  • Baltimore Orioles (+700)
  • Tampa Bay Rays (+1000)
  • Philadelphia Phillies (+1300)
  • Texas Rangers (+1600)
  • Toronto Blue Jays (+1600)
  • Milwaukee Brewers (+1700)
  • Minnesota Twins (+2000)
  • Arizona Diamondbacks (+3000)
  • Miami Marlins (+3500)

The Braves finished this MLB season with the best record in baseball, and the 2021 World Series champions enter the postseason as the favorite to win another World Series. The Houston Astros are at +450 to repeat as champions, with the Los Angeles Dodgers also at +450.

The Baltimore Orioles, a 100-game winner for the first time in 42 years, have the shortest odds in the American League at +700.

Pay Per Head Software

We have a month of postseason MLB ahead, full weekends of college and pro football, and the NBA and NHL are back this month. October is a month of treats, and if you are an independent bookmaker looking to take full advantage of the busy schedule, you need a top pay per head partner.

MLB Pennant Races In Final Stretch

by WagerHome Blog on September 19, 2023

With less than two weeks left to go in MLB regular season, four teams have clinched playoff spots.

The Atlanta Braves have clinched the National League East, the Los Angeles Dodgers have clinched the National League West, and both the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays are guaranteed at least a wild card spot in the American League. The Orioles and Rays still have their sights on winning the American League East, and it’s important to note that Baltimore owns the tiebreaker, should that factor in naming a division champion.

This is the first year of MLB’s new 12-team playoff format that will see the top two seeds in each league automatically advance to the Division Series, with the other four teams in each league playing a best-of-three Wild Card Series, with the division winner hosting all three games.

MLB Division Races

Heading into play on Tuesday, the Orioles had a 2.5-game lead in the American League East. The winner of the East will almost certainly be the top seed in the A.L., while the runner-up will drop to the fourth seed.

The Minnesota Twins had a seven-game lead in the A.L. Central, and they are the only team in the division that is over .500.

The American League West is the best division race in baseball, with the Astros clinging to a 1.5-game lead over both the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers. The Astros own the tiebreaker over the Rangers, the Mariners have the tiebreaker over Houston, and Texas has it over Seattle.

The N.L. Central is the only other MLB division up for grabs, but Milwaukee entered Tuesday with a six-game lead over the Cubs and Reds, and their magic number to clinch the division is 7.

MLB

Wild Card Races

Between the Orioles and Rays, whichever team doesn’t win the division will be the top wild-card team in the American League, locking them into the fourth seed. The race for the final two wild card spots is between three teams – the Toronto Blue Jays and the two teams that don’t win the A.L. West.

The Blue Jays have a one-game lead over the Mariners and Rangers, but they lose the tiebreaker to both teams.

In the National League, the top wild card team is the Philadelphia Phillies, with a 3.5-game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Behind Arizona by just a half-game are the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, and Florida Marlins. And two games further back are the San Francisco Giants.

Of those five teams behind the Phillies, three of them will miss the MLB playoffs.

Pay Per Head Software

October 3rd is when the MLB postseason is scheduled to begin, and if the World Series goes a full seven games, it will end on November 4th. A full month of playoff baseball while the NFL and college football rage on – if you are an independent bookmaker, how can you keep up?

Simple. Partner with a top pay per head software provider. With WagerHome.com, you get a fully customizable website, access to WagerHome’s huge menu of sports and betting options, plus EZ Live betting.

The Best and Worst of the MLB Trade Deadline

by WagerHome Blog on August 4, 2023

You’re either competing for a World Series, or you are trying to get the roster that will enable you to compete for a World Series. There is no other way to be a general manager in the MLB. (The A’s, working to do neither until they have successfully forced their way to Las Vegas, is the exception.)

For some teams, getting that roster for the MLB World Series push means that you are trying to win now. For others, 2024 or 2025 becomes the target date. Partnerships between the two contrasting plans is how we get trades.

The Teams With a Plan

The Houston Astros (+550 to win the MLB World Series) are always looking to win now. They are the defending MLB World Series champions, and one of the keys to that win, Justin Verlander, is back in Houston. He was traded by the Mets to the Astros, where he is a proven winner.

Up I-45, the Texas Rangers (+850 to win the World Series) grabbed Verlander’s teammate in New York, Max Scherzer, as well as left-hander starter Jordan Montgomery from the Cardinals. The Astros and Rangers are locked in a battle for the American League West, and now they have the Hall of Fame arms to create a great pennant race.

The Mets are clearly not looking to win this year, even though that was what they were thinking when they signed Scherzer for 2022 and Verlander for 2023. For Scherzer, they now have shortstop prospect Luisangel Acuna, for Verlander, they got outfielder Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford, and for closer David Robertson, they received catcher Ronald Hernandez and infielder Marco Vargas.

The Best and Worst of the MLB Trade Deadline

Too many teams are unwilling to change courses so quickly, but kudos to the Mets for reading the writing on the wall and setting themselves up nicely for the future.

What’s the Plan?

The Kansas City Royals were the MLB World Series champion eight years ago, but it might as well be 100. They are on pace to have their worst season in franchise history. Trading away Nicky Lopez was a good idea, but for 29-year-old reliever Taylor Hearn, a pitcher was just designated for assignment by the Rangers? It’s an unusual move for a team appearing to be lost at sea.

At the top of the A.L. Central is Minnesota, but all they did was trade middle relievers. No other moves were made, no real push to become a winner, and no real effort to end their 32-year World Series drought. Strange.

Pay Per Head Software

Independent bookmakers know just how busy this time of year is. MLB, the NFL, and college football are kicking off, NASCAR and golf, and then the NBA and NHL are just around the corner. It’s a lot to stay on top of unless you are in a partnership with a top pay per head software provider.

With WagerHome.com, you get a fully customizable website, access to WagerHome’s huge menu of sports and betting options, plus EZ Live betting. See a demo today at WagerHome.com and get your first four weeks of membership absolutely free.
