The most impressive of those knockouts belonged to Tyson Nam, who dropped Zarrukh Adashev with one punch to record his first-ever UFC win at the age of 36. You just never know what’s going to happen, and that is only amplified by the smaller octagon.

Blaydes and Volkov are both top-10 heavyweights, and even though Blaydes is the heavy favorite, it’s worth noting that Volkov has won seven of his last 10 fights. That includes his most recent win, a unanimous decision over Greg Hardy in November.

Also worth knowing before you place any bets is that Blaydes has won each of his last two fights before the end of the second round.

Welterweight Bout

One other fight to watch is Belal Muhammad and Lyman Good. It’s a close welterweight matchup, and the storylines are quite interesting. Four years ago, they were supposed to fight, but Good was replaced after he tested positive for a banned supplement.

In April, they were scheduled to fight again, but this time, Good tested positive for COVID-19 and again had to withdraw. Now, fingers crossed, they will finally fight.

PGA RBC Heritage Betting Preview

After this last weekend, the world agrees that PGA golf without fans in the gallery is much better than no golf at all. The golfing at Colonial was phenomenal, with a 73rd hole needed to determine the tournament winner. And it could have been a three-person playoff if not for a lipped-out putt on the 17th.

Xander Schauffele, who just narrowly missed at Colonial and was the leader after 54 holes, is at +2200. Collin Morikawa, the runner-up at Colonial, is on the board at +2500.

Other Harbour Town Betting Tips

Restart Updates For NBA, NHL; MLB Negotiations

You can now get a haircut, go to a restaurant, and very soon you will be able to watch major American team sports on television. We’ve almost made it. NBA Going to Orlando

The NBA’s return won’t happen until July 31, but when it does, watch out. If you thought two months of playoffs with 16 teams was intense, the restarted NBA will feature 22 teams, eight seeding games, a play-in tournament, and then a full playoff schedule of 16 teams, with every game taking place at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando.

We’ll get the draft lottery at the end of August and October will feature the end of the NBA Finals, the Draft, and the start of free agency. Then, a new season is set to begin Dec. 1.

All of this has been approved by both the league and players union, but, as with everything in the sports restart world of COVID-19, it’s all subject to change.

NHL With 24-Team Playoffs

One-upping the NBA is the NHL’s agreed-upon restart format. The top four seeds in each conference will play a round-robin to determine final seeding, while the other 16 teams (seeds five through 12 in each conference) will play best-of-five series to determine who moves on to face those top seeds.

An exciting change and one many hockey fans have been pushing for long before this season, is that each playoff round will be reseeded. Instead of a hard bracket, which would render the round-robin of the top seeds moot, the top seed will always face the lowest remaining seed.

Teams have begun to return to their practice facilities, and the league hopes to resume play by late July/early August in two yet-to-be-selected hub cities – one for all Eastern Conference games and the other for all Western Conference games.

MLB Remains A Mystery

For weeks we have heard: “Don’t worry, there is too much money at stake for baseball to cancel its full season.”

Maybe that’s the problem. There is simply too much money at stake, both for 2020 and beyond, for MLB and its players union – two long-time adversaries – to come together.

The PGA Tour returns this week at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas, and after such a long layoff, it’s impossible to know exactly what to expect from the golfers as they return to the course without fans. But what we do know is that we can expect some incredible golf.

NASCAR QuikTrip 500 Betting Tips

Without fans in the stands, it might not feel exactly like live racing, but give NASCAR credit for the effort. At this Sunday’s QuikTrip 500 from Atlanta Motor Speedway, NASCAR fans will experience a first – a virtual tailgate party.

On the preliminary card, the Alex Perez-Jussier Formiga fight looks to be one of the best. Both flyweights are ranked in the top 10.

A couple of notes on the card to keep an eye on. Mackenzie Dern is making just her second appearance in the octagon since giving birth to a baby girl.

Meanwhile, Daniel Rodriguez was supposed to fight Kevin Holland, who would have been making just a 14-day turnaround from his victory over Anthony Hernandez. Instead, Holland was replaced this week because of injury, and Rodriguez is now the heavy favorite to beat replacement fighter Gabriel Green. Green is making his UFC debut and hasn’t fought professionally since 2018.

Smaller Octagon

One big factor in this weekend’s fight card and how the bets will fall is the size of the cage at UFC Apex. Instead of the standard 30 feet, it’s just 25 feet, which means that with less space to move around, there will be more fighter on fighter interaction.

More fighting and less moving means that there is a higher likelihood of matches ending in finishes instead of decisions. More finishes and shorter fights means that round betting and method of victory wagers will be influenced, so take that into consideration.

It’s also worth noting that Woodley hasn’t recorded a KO since 2016. So if ever there was a chance for him to end that unlucky streak, Saturday night is it. For the record, a Woodley KO or TKO is currently paying +175.

NASCAR Keeps Foot Down With More Betting Action

So far, the Cup Series’ mid-week races have been a huge hit among fans and drivers alike, and it’s actually been talked about in the past as a way to condense the season. Currently, NASCAR kicks off in February with the Daytona 500 and doesn’t finish the year until November.

If the Wednesday night’s television numbers hold – and there’s no reason to think they won’t this week at the Alsco Uniforms 500 – there will be serious talk about keeping weekday racing on the schedule, even after everything else returns to normal.

Food City 500 in Bristol

From Charlotte, the teams will head to Tennessee and the much shorter track at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Five hundred laps, but just 266 miles, coming Sunday. It’s a race course known for winning streaks.

In the 1970s, Cale Yarborough won four in a row, while Darrell Waltrip dominated the 80s with a seven-race win streak. In the 90s, it was Jeff Gordon taking the checkered flag four straight times at the Food City 500. And currently, it is Kyle Busch going for his third consecutive victory in the race.

The competition for Busch will be fierce, with brother Kurt Busch a six-time winner at Bristol, three-time Bristol winner Matt Kenseth, and two-time Food City 500 winner Jimmie Johnson – fresh off his disqualification at the 600 in Charlotte – all vying for the top spot.

NASCAR Continues Its Busy Schedule with More Betting Action

Week 1 of the return of NASCAR finished almost exactly as the pre-race betting odds predicted. On Sunday, it was Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch who went off as the two race favorites, and it was Harvick finishing in first place while the other Busch, older brother Kurt, crossed the finish line in third.

As expected, with no practice and no qualifying, it was the most experienced teams that came out of top. And also as expected, everyone was thrilled to be back on the racetrack.

It was Harvick’s 50th career Cup win, and he said that while it was a great honor to win the race, it was a little strange taking the checkered flag to the silence of a fan-free grandstand.

The two-month interruption to the season has not wiped away one of the marquee races of the year. This coming Sunday, on its originally scheduled day, the Coca-Cola 600 will be run. And for this race, because of its importance in the standings, there will be qualifying runs to determine the starting order.

Not surprisingly, the top names you would expect to see are jockeying for position at the head of the odds board.

Martin Truex was the champion of this event in 2019, his second victory in the Coca-Cola 600. Joey Logano finished second in 2019 in NASCAR’s longest race of the year.

Alex Bowman is an interesting bet here at +1200. At Darlington on Sunday, he finished in second place behind Harvick, and the 27-year-old does have a pair of top 10 finishes at Charlotte.

Three Races in Seven Days – Twice

In an effort to run just as many races as originally scheduled, after the Coca-Cola 600 is run on May 24, there will be another Cup Series race at Charlotte on May 27, before everyone moves to Bristol for the Food City 500 on May 31.

Then the action moves to Atlanta on June 7. The Cup Series races at Martinsville on June 10 and again in Miami on June 14. Including the race that was just held at Darlington, that’s a total of seven NASCAR events in only 28 days.
